Water Shut-Off

The Village of Wintersville will shut water off on January 27th 2009 at 10:00 PM to the following locations to make repairs.

The locations are as follows: Old Main Street, Haslip Memorial, Chase Bank, The Goodwill Building.


Once the repairs are made there will be a 48 hour boil order.

"Citizen of the Year" Nominations

Nominations for the annual "Citizen of the Year" award are now being accepted and should be submitted to the village office at 200 Grove St. no later than 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 19.

Mayor Bob Gale asked residents to submit the names of the nominees as well as a reason why they believe the nominee deserves the award.

Council will announce the winner and present him or her with a plaque at an upcoming council meeting.

Council Meetings Television Broadcast
The Village of Wintersville regularly scheduled council meetings are televised the second and fourth Thursdays on Comcast's leased access Channel 95 at 7:00 P.M.

New Council President and Committee Members

Village Council members elected a new council president and named village committee members for 2009 during the January 8, 2009 council meeting.

Bob Merriman was nominated as council president.

Council members Phyllis Foreman, Jason Mattern, Bob Cochrun, Thomas Bottorf and Merriman voted in favor of electing Merriman president. Councilman Robert Martin was not present due to health reasons.

Committees and members include:

Finance: Merriman, Mattern and Foreman
Annexation/Beautification/Development: Cochrun, Bottorf and Merriman
Council Rules and Ordinances: Mattern, Cochrun and Foreman
Streets and Sanitation: Martin, Mattern and Cochrun
Water and Sewer: Bottorf, Cochrun and Martin
Personnel: Foreman, Bottorf and Martin
Safety: Mattern, Merriman and Bottorf
Recreation: Martin, Foreman and Merriman
Planning Commission: Martin
